Upcoming Activities

Mr. BJ York and Fork Union's Commandant's Department work tirelessly each week to provide a fun atmosphere for the cadets. Below are the upcoming activities for cadets. 

• Upcoming Cadet Events/Activities:
  • Saturday, December 3 | 1300-1500
    • Ms. Stevens' Gingerbread House Making Activity.
  • Saturday, December 10 | 1900-2100
    • On-site Semi-Formal for 11th & 12th grades only. 

IMPORTANT Christmas Break Information

• Departure Time: All cadets are required to leave for Christmas Break after their final exams on Friday, Dec. 16. This means that every cadet that lives on campus is required to have a Leave Request submitted through Orah. If your cadet leaves campus before exam day, you will need prior approval from the Commandant and Academic Dean. This needs to be specified in Orah on your Leave Request. 
• FUMA Transportation: If you needs FUMA's help to transport your cadet to and from campus for Christmas Break, you will need to select the FUMA transportation options on the Leave Request in Orah by TODAY. The deadline for FUMA Transportation is Friday, Dec. 2. Mr. BJ York needs two weeks to prepare all transportation requests. If any requests are submitted after Friday, Dec. 2, you will be charged a $10 per day late fee. 
• Arrival Time: All cadets are required to return to campus by 7:00 PM on Monday, January 2, 2023. This includes all international travel. If your cadet returns after 7:00 PM on Monday, January 2, you need prior approval from the Commandant and Academic Dean. This needs to be specified in Orah on your Leave Request. 
• Illnesses: We are aware that there are several colds and viruses circulating and with family gatherings, unexpected illnesses may occur. Please note, if your child becomes ill during the holiday break, please contact the infirmary. Medical illnesses will NOT be approved following break. Therefore, it is expected that all cadets return Monday, Jan. 2 without exception. Once they have returned, they can be evaluated by the nurse and possibly either admitted to the infirmary or seen by the Academy Physician. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the infirmary at infirmary@fuma.org.

It is Almost Time to Re-Enroll Your Cadet!

The Admissions Office will make re-enrollment contracts available on SchoolAdmin on Monday, January 2. All current cadets in grades 7th through 11th are eligible to return for the 2023-2024 academic year. We are encouraging all families to re-enroll early to receive a discount of $1,000. If you re-enroll before March 3, you will receive the $1,000 discount. 

The deadline to re-enroll for the 2023-2024 academic year is April 30, 2023. If you re-enroll after April 30, there will be a late fee charged per month after the deadline. 

We are Approaching Financial Aid Season for 2023-2024!

Now that we are back from our Thanksgiving Break and entering December, we are approaching the financial aid season for the 2023-2024 academic year. We receive on average 550-600 new applications for admission each year. As these new applications from prospective students for the 2023-2024 academic year are beginning to roll in, we want to make sure that we do our very best to support our current families first. Here are important deadlines and discounts to keep in mind:

• Financial Aid Application Deadline: Saturday, December 31, 2022. 
• Early Enrollment Discount: Current families who enroll before Friday, March 3, 2023 will receive a $1,000 discount. 
• Tuition Protection Plan: The cost of the Tuition Protection Plan is $1,000 for the 2023-2024 academic year and must be paid prior to your cadet's arrival on campus.
• Re-Enrollment Deadline: Sunday, April 30, 2023.
• Early Payment Discount/Credit: any family who pays their FACTS account balance, 100% full, prior to their cadet's arrival on campus will receive a $1,000 credit.

December ACT has been Canceled by the ACT

The December ACT test administration has canceled the December 10th date at the Academy. ACT will be reaching out to any cadet that was registered for the test administration through the registered email account about all changes to the test. Parents will need to go to ACT.org or contact ACT customer service for any questions and concerns. 

It's Time to Order Your Class Ring

It is time to order your cadet's class ring! A class ring captures the memories of the greatest days of your son's high school years. A custom ring designed exclusively for Fork Union Military Academy is available to all juniors and seniors. Rings will be presented at a Ring Ceremony in the spring where parents will be invited to. We are excited about our first holiday break trip to Virginia Beach starting this weekend! Fork Union is offering its second holiday break trip in March during Spring Break when they head to Disney World for the week. Below are the details:

Fork Union Announces the "125 for the 125th" Campaign

Following a very successful Day of Giving on Founder's Day weekend, Fork Union Military Academy announced the start of the public phase of a fund-raising campaign, "125 for the 125th," in honor of the school's 125th anniversary, which will be observed the weekend of October 13-15, 2023.

Ms. Rhonda White, Fork Union's Coordinator of Assessments & Student Records, is offering something special to parents if they would like to celebrate their cadet's birthday at FUMA if it falls during the school year. Kristin is a professional photographer contracted by the Academy to take campus photos throughout the year and have been specializing in high school senior photography for 10 years.
