Dear Parents and Families,
We would like to share an important update regarding Parent’s Weekend, October 10–12, 2025.
Due to unexpected travel requirements for our Fork Union Band to participate in the 250th Anniversary of the Navy & Marine Corps Parade on Monday, October 13, the Parent’s Weekend Parade originally scheduled for Sunday, October 12, will now take place on Friday evening, October 10, at 6:30 PM on Fraley Circle.
What this means:
- Band Members will depart campus early Sunday morning (October 12) at 6:00 AM for the parade.
- All other cadets may now depart campus with their families after their athletic requirements are completed on Saturday, October 11, and may remain with their families overnight.
- Sunday events, including Chapel and Sunday Brunch, will still be held, but they are now optional.
Families who registered for Sunday events, we invite you to consider donating your Sunday event registration fee to support the Academy.
To help us plan appropriately, please let us know if you and your cadet will still be attending Sunday Chapel and Brunch with a simple reply to this email.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we support our Band in representing Fork Union Military Academy at this historic national event. Thank you for being an important part of our Academy community.

Friday, October 10, 2025
- 2:00 PM – Parents arrive on campus
- 2:15 PM – Parent’s Weekend Welcome with CAPT Black, Wicker Chapel
- 3:00–5:00 PM – Multiple Events
- Parent/Teacher Conferences (by appointment only – contact teachers directly starting two weeks prior)
- Afternoon Tea in the Library, hosted by Mrs. Kim Black and the Parent’s Association
- 5:30–6:30 PM – Dinner in Estes Dining Hall
- Free with Parent’s Association sign-up (2 tickets)
- $10 per person otherwise (cadets & children under 5 free)
- Family photo opportunity with Kristin Firewicz Studios
- 6:30 PM – UPDATED: Parent’s Weekend Parade at Fraley Circle
Saturday, October 11, 2025
- 9:00 AM – Parents arrive on campus
- 9:00–11:00 AM – Open House in Estes Dining Hall (meet teachers, advisors, and staff; visit Jostens, Woodworking Club, and Interact Club booths)
- 11:00 AM – Varsity Soccer vs. Fredericksburg Christian School (Outdoor Track/Soccer Field)
- 11:30 AM–12:30 PM – Family Tailgate at Sabre Square ($10 per family member; cadets & children under 5 free)
- 1:00 PM – Varsity Football vs. Fredericksburg Christian School (Stadium Field)
- 4:00 PM – PG Lacrosse vs. Virginia State University (Stadium Field)
- UPDATED: Parents may take cadets off campus after athletic requirements.
- Cadets must return by Sunday, October 12 at 7:00 PM
- Band members must return by Saturday, October 11 at 9:00 PM
Sunday, October 12, 2025
- UPDATED: Band members depart for Philadelphia at 6:00 AM
- 10:00 AM – Chapel (optional for cadets on leave)
- 10:45 AM–12:15 PM – Sunday Brunch in Estes Dining Hall (optional for cadets on leave)
